Ayatollah Sistani’s views similar to Iran: Rafsanjani

TEHRAN – Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Thursday that Ayatollah Ali Sistani holds same views as Iran. However he did not elaborate any further.
Following his meeting with Ayatollah Sistani in Najaf, Rafsanjani said they had talked on different issues pertaining to Iran, Iraq and the region.He said challenges facing Iraq and Iran were among the most important topics raised in the talks, adding that they discussed the future plans and extending the environs of holly shrines in Iraq.
He said Ayatollah Sistani plays a pivotal role in preserving unity among different political parties and coalitions in Iraq.
He added that Ayatollah Sistani is very concerned about certain disagreements between extremists, Sunnis and the Shia in Iraq.
Rafsanjani, who started a five-day tour of Iraq on Monday morning, held talks with senior Iraqi officials including President Jalal Talebani and Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki
